Studio Ghibli | Curated Collection

Studio Ghibli was founded in Tokyo in June 1985 by legendary directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, and producter Toshio Suzuki, following the success of Miyazaki's film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984).

Named after an Italian word for a hot desert wind, the studio aimed to bring a new, high-quality approach to Japanese animation, known for its stunning visuals, deep themes (environmentalism, pacifism, coming-of-age), and hand-drawn artistry.
