Our modern back issues are roughly graded at 8.0 or above, Bronze and Silver-age issues are roughly 6.5 or better (usually better) unless an issue is noted as a reader. Readers are not guaranteed to be in any condition above 3.5. Please contact us if you have any questions about the specific condition of a back issue.

Here we have 2 copies of the same back issue - X-Men Classic #39, printed by Marvel Comics in November of 1989. As you can imagine, a whole lot can happen to a comic book in 37 years

Copy A looks pretty good! A little bit of dirty edges, probably a couple of finger dents that would need pressing or cleaning if this was a showpiece or a grading candidate. We wouldn’t price this comic book at top dollar because it does not quite look new to the eye.

Copy B tells us a darker story! Multiple spine ticks that break the color on the cover of the comic book. A different type of dirt on in the corner box next to the issue number. While this comic may have been previously loved, it’s going to be priced even lower than our other example

We feel Both Comics are priced competitively and accurately. While the one with less damage will command a higher price.

NOTE: If you see something on the site that is a high demand key issue priced at about $3.50, the condition may be pretty rough compared to what you may expect. If you have questions, reach out!
